PREPARING YOUR FURNITURE FOR STAINING
Move any furniture to be stained to a clear area and place a drop cloth underneath to prevent any excess stain marking your deck or property. Refinishing outdoor furniture is very similar to staining your outdoor deck or siding. Before you start your project, always ensure that you are using products that are designed for staining furniture.
Step 1 Make sure to remove all old finishes, either by sanding or using REMOVE Finish remover 315. If the furniture has a gray or weathered look to it, you can remove the dead wood fibers by using RESTORE for Gray & Weathered Wood 316. Since you will be working in smaller spaces, be extra careful to avoid contact with the finish remover. Always follow label instructions.
Step 2 Allow the furniture to dry completely before staining
Step 3 Begin working on the underside of the furniture, making sure you coat the ends of the table legs and chairs. This will ensure the best protection possible. Use a brush for the best penetration of stain into the wood. If you use a roller, or spray, make sure you back-brush to get an even finish. Once complete, continue on to the top sides of the furniture using the same methods.
Step 4 Again, allow the stain to fully dry per the label directions before returning the furniture to service.
